2024 Diehard Results

We had a great turnout for the Diehard on a fantastic day!!  Thanks to Jim and the staff for the food, beer, and the great environment to watch the Packer game.  Ok Joe V, the Viking game was on too so thanks to Jim for that..  though it seems like a 12″ black and white TV in the bathroom would have been more appropriate.  Gary Olmschenk won the recliner giveaway during the game.  Remember, there is a recliner giveaway during every Packer game, so don’t be a stranger now that golf season is over !

In addition to some great golf we learned two things. 1) If you are backing up to get a better angle while tracking the shot of one of your playing partners – be aware of what’s behind you …Ken Pulvermacher. That was almost as funny as Jim’s joke about the Costa Rican postage stamps.  2) If an opponents ball is struck such that it is making a beeline for your pushcart, make like a squirrel and protect your nuts … Karl Metzger.  Witness Carl Holzem said the chances were so miniscule he would get hit like that, not sure what he meant.

You don’t get this kind of material in the winter virtual golf season, but if the new simulators can emulate a hill and a pushcart, Ken will give it the old college try. Is it too early to start the countdown to the Early Bird in 2025… I don’t think so.

As for the golf, Tom Halla set another course record with a -3 with 3 clubs. Next year he will go for even par using 3 clubs, 1 hand only (left and right alternate shot) while wearing a single flip-flop and Jim’s motorcycle helmet.  DraftKings has the moneyline at +250 which means Jeb will be hitting the app as soon as this email hits his inbox.   Maybe Chapo can livestream the round to the clubhouse using his new drone – must see TV there – it might eclipse the final episode of the A-Team (everyone under 45 has no idea what the hell that is and is hitting Google right now … I pity the fool!!!). I vote to give TJ Dougherty free cocktails and let him call the action live from the tower, with color commentary from Trevor Seider.  I’m sure there’s a conspiracy theory about how the money from the flip flop trade in China is being used to prop up the government in Turkmenistan or one of those other icky-stans.  Tom might want to consult Ken Pulvermacher for tips on staying upright with the 1 flip flop… then again, maybe not.  On the normal side (whatever that is), Tim Dwyer played with a full set of clubs and both shoes and lit the world on fire with a -10 net score and a couple of skins.  Nicely done..
