Using the WSGA web site, look up the handicap index for the 4 players involved in the match. This index should correspond to the tees from which the match will be played. The players from Team A add their handicaps together and Team B does the same. The team with the higher combined index will receive handicap strokes equal to the difference between their combined index and the combined index of the other team. For example, if Team A has a combined handicap of 32 and Team B has a combined handicap of 40, then Team B will receive 1 stroke on the 8 hardest holes.
The team with the lowest combined score (minus any handicap) is the winner of the hole. If Team A has a 4 and a 5 on the hole their combined score is 9. Team B also has a 4 and a 5 but also receives 1 handicap stroke so their combined score would be 8. On this hole Team B would win the hole.
If the match ends in a tie after the 18th hole, the match will continue from either the 1st or 10th hole as directed by the starter. Handicap strokes continue to be given on each extra hole in the same manner they were during the first 18 holes.
